Aug. 6th, 2021 05:49 pmAs of 5PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 2 newly reported confirmed deaths (same as yesterday) for a total of 17,727 deaths, 1,111 newly reported confirmed cases (65 more than yesterday - up 6.2%) for a total of 678,544 cases, and 45,089 newly reported molecular tests (2,581 less than yesterday - down 5.4%).The seven day average positivity rate is 2.65%, compared to 2.61% yesterday. The state also reported zero newly reported probable deaths (same as yesterday) for a total of 368 and 95 newly reported probable cases (30 less than yesterday - down 24.0%) for a total of 47,851. Combining the confirmed and probable numbers gives 2 new deaths for a total of 18,095 and 1,206 new cases for a total of 726,395. There were 271 COVID-19 patients in hospital (7 more than yesterday - up 2.7%), 61 COVID-19 patients in ICUs (6 more than yesterday - up 10.9%) and 22 COVID-19 patients on ventilators (intubated) (3 more than yesterday - up 15.8%).
Of the four overview trends (formerly the Page 2 "key metrics"), the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 691.0 (31 more than yesterday - up 4.7%), 979% above the lowest observed value of 64.0 on 6/25/2021 and 89.0% below the highest observed value of 6,234.0 on 1/8/2021. The 7-day weighted average of positive molecular test rate is 2.65% (0 more than yesterday - up 1.5%), 761% above the lowest observed value of 0.3% on 6/25/2021 and 90% below the highest observed value of 27.7% on 4/15/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is 230.0 (11 more than yesterday - up 5.0%), 170% above the lowest observed value of 85.0 on 7/9/2021 and 95% below the highest observed value of 3,874.0 on 4/27/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 deaths is 1.0 (same as yesterday), 0% above the lowest observed value of 1.0 on 7/12/2021 and 100% below the highest observed value of 175.0 on 4/24/2020.
Statewide, hospitals reported 9,064 non-ICU beds, of which 7,895 (87.1%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 210 (2.3%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 959 (10.6%) remained available. Hospitals also reported 1,341 ICU beds, of which 961 (71.7%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 61 (4.5%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 319 (23.8%) remained available. By comparison, hospitals reported yesterday a total of 9,120 non-ICU beds, of which 7,951 (87.2%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 209 (2%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 960 (10.5%) remained available. Hospitals also reported yesterday a total of 1,345 ICU beds, of which 965 (71.7%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 55 (4.1%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 325 (24.2%) remained available.
Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 311.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 2.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 110.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 1.53%.

Spiffy. Deaths were constant day-over-day, but cases and hospitalizations were both up again. Today's 1,111 newly reported cases mark the first time since May 1 that the state reported over eleven hundred new cases in a single day. The seven-day averages for cases, hospitalizations and percent-positive are also all up again, while that for deaths remained steady.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 11 active and 1,010 cumulative cases as of August 5. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
