I used to be active on LiveJournal, way back in the day, but I stopped posting there back in 2017, after the Russian owners decided to change the Terms of Service in ways I found objectionable.

(The Twitter Rules haven't gotten that bad. Yet.)

I've been on Twitter for quite a while (my first tweet was on June 11, 2010), ever since the folks I knew via the Shadow Unit fandom started playing the Fallen London / Echo Bazaar online game (which used Twitter as its login platform). I'm not planning on leaving Twitter any time soon, especially as $44b is a lot of cash. On the other hand, I did put in a request for my current Twitter archive, just in case ...

Well, our Russian LiveJournal overlords have come up with new terms of service, which as near as I can tell mean I can't post anything political. Which, as one might think, is a non-trivial amount of what I post. So, it looks like it's time to at least partially decommission this site.

Default crossposting ends immediately. I've queued up a final import of comments from LiveJournal to my Dreamwidth account. Once that's finished (which will likely take a looong time), I plan to disable comments on Livejournal and cease crossposts.
