Mixed news day-to-day: deaths are down, but cases are up. The estimated active cases count keeps dropping, which is great. Hospitalization counts are also dropping; today's count of 281 is the first time since October 6, 2020 that the state's been below three hundred confirmed COVID cases in hospital. (Back then, the state's report combined confirmed and suspected COVID-19 hospitalizations into the total count, which is why the October 6 report shows 494 "currently hospitalized" patients on page 9.)

The seven-day averages are also going in good directions; in fact, the seven-day percent-positive average is down below one percent for the first time since September 28, 2020.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 5 active and 977 cumulative cases as of May 21. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 12PM on May 17, 2021 reported 975 cumulative cases with 6 individuals in isolation, 937 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
