Today being Thursday, the state also included city/town specific information in the daily download. My town of Acton is listed as having 1,008 total cases, with a two-week case count of 28 cases, a daily incidence rate of 8.4 which is higher than last week, with a corresponding risk color code of green (if the state was still reporting color codes). Acton is also listed as having 56,203 total tests, with a two-week total test count of 1,881 and a two-week positive test count of 31, for a percent-positive rate of 1.65 which is higher than last week. The corresponding statewide figures are 700,577 total cases, with a two-week case count of 17,007 cases, a daily incidence rate of 17.4 which is higher than last week. Massachusetts is also listed as having 25,784,002 total tests, with a two-week total test count of 687,298 and a two-week positive test count of 19,466, for a percent-positive rate of 2.83 which is the same than last week.
As of July 1, 2021, the state is no longer reporting risk color codes. However, if it was, of the 351 cites and towns in the Commonwealth, 116 would be coded gray (compared to 125 last week), 36 would be coded green (compared to 56 last week), and 163 would be coded yellow (compared to 139 last week). The remaining 36 towns would be coded red (compared to 31 last week): Adams, Agawam, Berkley, Carver, Chicopee, Dighton, Dudley, Edgartown, Fall River, Freetown, Hull, Lakeville, Lawrence, Ludlow, Methuen, Monson, Nantucket, New Bedford, Oak Bluffs, Oxford, Palmer, Pepperell, Rehoboth, Revere, Rutland, Seekonk, Shirley, Southwick, Springfield, Swansea, Taunton, Tisbury, Tyngsborough, Westfield, Westminster, and Westport.
15 cities/towns would be newly coded red this week (Adams, Agawam, Berkley, Carver, Freetown, Hull, Lakeville, Ludlow, Rutland, Southwick, Swansea, Tisbury, Tyngsborough, Westfield, and Westminster) and 10 cities/towns would no longer be coded red this week (Brockton, Dracut, East Bridgewater, Fairhaven, Great Barrington, Lowell, North Adams, Somerset, Southbridge, and Wilbraham).
Of the 10 towns near my church, 3 are coded gray (Bolton, Boxborough, and Stow), 3 are coded green (Acton, Berlin, and Harvard), 4 are coded yellow (Hudson, Marlborough, Maynard, and Sudbury), and none are coded red.
The daily raw data file used to create this report is available here.
Not much in the way of good news today, with deaths and cases both up a bunch; the 1,793 newly reported confirmed cases are the highest single-day amount since April 16. Hospitalizations were down a bit day-over-day, so that's something. The seven-day averages are mostly higher, although the percent-positive average did dip minutely. The town-by-town results are also discouraging, with a net of five more communities in the highest-risk category (assuming, of course, that the state gave a rat's ass about those categories any more). At least Massachusetts isn't running out of hospital beds.
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 7 active and 1,045 cumulative cases as of August 25. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
