The state is giving advance warning that they're taking Monday off:
Please note: the daily COVID-19 public health report will not be published on Monday, July 5th. The report published on Tuesday, July 6th will include data for Saturday, July 3rd through Tuesday, July 6th.
Meanwhile, the state has apparently decided to tweak the data format yet again, with several fields no longer reported - including the fourteen-day average test turnaround time, the estimated active case count, and the city/town risk color code. At least they're still providing enough data for me to calculate that color code directly, so for the sake of consistency I've made that change.

As of 5PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 3 newly reported confirmed deaths (2 more than yesterday - up 200.0%) for a total of 17,633 deaths, 76 newly reported confirmed cases (17 less than yesterday - down 18.3%) for a total of 663,898 cases, and 30,384 newly reported molecular tests (1,100 less than yesterday - down 3.5%). The seven day average positivity rate is 0.37%, compared to 0.36% yesterday. Excluding higher education, the seven day average positivity rate is 0.50%, compared to 0.49% yesterday. The state also reported zero newly reported probable deaths (same as yesterday) for a total of 364 and 7 newly reported probable cases (7 more than yesterday) for a total of 46,151. Combining the confirmed and probable numbers gives 3 new deaths for a total of 17,997 and 83 new cases for a total of 710,049. There were 102 COVID-19 patients in hospital (8 less than yesterday - down 7.3%), 29 COVID-19 patients in ICUs (4 less than yesterday - down 12.1%) and 11 COVID-19 patients on ventilators (intubated) (4 less than yesterday - down 26.7%).

Of the four overview trends (formerly the Page 2 "key metrics"), the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 60.0 (2 more than yesterday - up 3.4%), 0% above the lowest observed value of 60.0 on 6/30/2021 and 100.0% below the highest observed value of 6,236.0 on 1/8/2021. The 7-day weighted average of positive molecular test rate is 0.37% (0 more than yesterday - up 2.0%), 23% above the lowest observed value of 0.3% on 6/25/2021 and 99% below the highest observed value of 27.7% on 4/15/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is 100.0 (1 more than yesterday - up 1.0%), 2% above the lowest observed value of 98.0 on 6/27/2021 and 98% below the highest observed value of 3,874.0 on 4/27/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 deaths is 1.0 (1 less than yesterday - down 50.0%), 0% above the lowest observed value of 1.0 on 6/28/2021 and 100% below the highest observed value of 175.0 on 4/24/2020.

Statewide, hospitals reported 9,168 non-ICU beds, of which 8,027 (87.6%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 73 (0.8%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,068 (11.6%) remained available. Hospitals also reported 1,347 ICU beds, of which 971 (72.1%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 29 (2.2%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 347 (25.8%) remained available. By comparison, hospitals reported yesterday a total of 9,124 non-ICU beds, of which 7,946 (87.1%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 77 (1%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,101 (12.1%) remained available. Hospitals also reported yesterday a total of 1,345 ICU beds, of which 949 (70.6%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 33 (2.5%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 363 (27.0%) remained available.

Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 68.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 3.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 135.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 0.40% (or 0.53% excluding higher education).

Today being Thursday, the state also included city/town specific information in the daily download. My town of Acton is listed as having 952 total cases, with a two-week case count of no cases, a daily incidence rate of 0.0 which is the same than last week, with a corresponding risk color code of gray (if the state was still reporting color codes). Acton is also listed as having 50,341 total tests, with a two-week total test count of 1,109 and a two-week positive test count of 0, for a percent-positive rate of 0.00 which is the same than last week. The corresponding statewide figures are 663,822 total cases, with a two-week case count of 949 cases, a daily incidence rate of 1.0 which is lower than last week. Massachusetts is also listed as having 23,825,346 total tests, with a two-week total test count of 379,731 and a two-week positive test count of 1,238, for a percent-positive rate of 0.33 which is the same than last week.

As of July 1, 2021, the state is no longer reporting risk color codes. However, if it was, of the 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth, 337 would be coded gray (compared to 332 last week), 14 would be coded green (compared to 19 last week), and zero would be coded yellow (compared to zero last week). No cities or towns would be coded red this week.

Of the 10 towns near my church, 10 are coded gray (Acton, Berlin, Bolton, Boxborough, Harvard, Hudson, Marlborough, Maynard, Stow, and Sudbury), none are coded green, none are coded yellow, and none are coded red.

The daily raw data file used to create this report is available here.

Once I worked through all the data format changes (and, in particular, added a way to calculate the color codes), the day-to-day changes are ... mixed. Deaths are up, but cases are down, as are hospitalizations. The seven-day averages are a mixed bag, as well; cases and deaths both are at their Lowest Observed Values, but percent-positive and hospitalization averages are up a wee bit. The weekly city/town data continues to improve, as five fewer towns had enough cases to get even to the green code. And, of course, my own town has no cases listed for the past several weeks, which from a personal standpoint is great.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing zero active and 981 cumulative cases as of June 30. There have been no new cases shown on this dashboard since June 2. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
