Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 1,359.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 9.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 703.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 2.28% (or 3.92% excluding higher education).

The daily raw data file used to create this report is available here.

Day-to-day deaths held steady (albeit at a relatively high number compared to the last week or so); newly reported cases and the estimated total active cases both dropped, along with hospitalizations. The seven-day averages for cases and hospitalizations are also down, but those for deaths and percent-positive both ticked up. The seven-day averages for cases, percent-positive and hospitalizations are all still below their levels of two days ago, but also still well above their lowest observed values of last summer; we've still got a ways to go before this is over.

Massachusetts today has relaxed its outdoor mask mandate, eliminating the requirement to wear masks outdoors in all public spaces (even when more than six feet away from anyone else):

You can take that mask off, Massachusetts — if you're outdoors and not in close contact with someone.

As of Friday, "Face coverings will only be required outside in public when it is not possible to socially distance," that is, if you can't stay 6 feet away from people, the state website says.

Masks are still required in Massachusetts "at all times in indoor public places," as well as at events, whether indoors or outdoors, and whether in a public place or a private home, the state says.

At smaller gatherings in private homes, masks are recommended but not required, the state says. A $300 fine enforcement mechanism has been eliminated.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority reminded people Friday that masks are still required aboard vehicles, on station platforms, and otherwise within the MBTA system for all riders, including the fully vaccinated. That includes outdoor bus stops and all outdoor platforms, the T said.

The always-wear-a-mask mandate was announced last November 2 as the big fall surge started ramping up.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 19 active and 959 cumulative cases as of April 29. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 6PM on April 27, 2021 reported 951 cumulative cases with 13 individuals in isolation, 906 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
