As of 5PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 74 newly reported confirmed deaths (same as yesterday) for a total of 14,563 deaths, 2,982 newly reported confirmed cases (380 more than yesterday - up 14.6%) for a total of 510,148 cases, and 127,468 newly reported molecular tests (46,182 more than yesterday - up 56.8%). The seven day average positivity rate is 3.16%, compared to 3.29% yesterday. Excluding higher education, the seven day average positivity rate is 5.06%, compared to 5.17% yesterday. The number of estimated active cases was 59,934 (1,930 less than yesterday - down 3.1%). The state also reported 1 newly reported probable death (1 less than yesterday - down 50.0%) for a total of 296 and 305 newly reported probable cases (103 more than yesterday - up 51.0%) for a total of 27,060. Combining the confirmed and probable numbers gives 75 new deaths for a total of 14,859 and 3,287 new cases for a total of 537,208. There were 1,503 COVID-19 patients in hospital (51 less than yesterday - down 3.3%), 322 COVID-19 patients in ICUs (13 less than yesterday - down 3.9%) and 196 COVID-19 patients on ventilators (intubated) (12 less than yesterday - down 5.8%).
Of the four overview trends (formerly the Page 2 "key metrics"), the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 1,829.0 (33 less than yesterday - down 1.8%), 1,064% above the lowest observed value of 157.0 on 7/4/2020 and 71.0% below the highest observed value of 6,237.0 on 1/8/2021. The 7-day weighted average of positive molecular test rate is 3.16% (0 less than yesterday - down 3.8%), 310% above the lowest observed value of 0.8% on 9/21/2020 and 89% below the highest observed value of 27.7% on 4/15/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is 1,652.0 (46 less than yesterday - down 2.7%), 965% above the lowest observed value of 155.0 on 8/26/2020 and 58% below the highest observed value of 3,874.0 on 4/27/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 deaths is 52.0 (2 more than yesterday - up 4.0%), 372% above the lowest observed value of 11.0 on 9/9/2020 and 71% below the highest observed value of 175.0 on 4/24/2020.
Statewide, hospitals reported 9,238 non-ICU beds, of which 6,541 (70.8%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 1,181 (12.8%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,516 (16.4%) remained available. Hospitals also reported 1,473 ICU beds, of which 811 (55.1%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 322 (21.9%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 340 (23.1%) remained available. By comparison, hospitals reported yesterday a total of 9,243 non-ICU beds, of which 6,559 (71.0%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 1,219 (13%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,465 (15.8%) remained available. Hospitals also reported yesterday a total of 1,469 ICU beds, of which 826 (56.2%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 335 (22.8%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 308 (21.0%) remained available.
Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 2,966.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 59.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 2,180.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 5.51% (or 7.10% excluding higher education).

Cases up day-to-day, deaths constant, but positivity continues to drop and that's good to see. Even better, all the hospitalization counts ticked downward, and the seven-day averages are all happily lower than two weeks ago. Now if only Governor Baker would get the state's act together on vaccinations...
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 30 active and 691 cumulative cases as of February 3, and has apparently not been updated since. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 1:30PM on January 25, 2021 reported 655 cumulative cases with 49 individuals in isolation, 575 persons recovered and 31 fatalities.
