Now Massachusetts is closing its borders!
Nov. 27th, 2020 05:58 pmNot physically, perhaps, but as of midnight tonight, none of the states bordering Massachusetts qualify as "lower-risk" - which allows for quarantine-free travel into the Commonwealth. The only state still listed is Hawai'i.
Pretty much anyone traveling into Massachusetts is now expected to quarantine themselves for 14 days, unless they already have a negative PCR test in the prior 72 hours or meet one of a limited set of other exceptions.
Looks like no interstate road trips for me for the foreseeable future ...
The phrase "Massachusetts is closing its borders" is a throwback to the old Flash browser game Pandemic 2, which was quite the Cool Kids Thing To Do back in November 2008. The goal of that game was to kill off the entire human race with a designer plague of your choice. The island of Madagascar was one of the most difficult places to infect, mostly because the locals were all too willing to do intelligent things like keep potentially infectious foreigners out; thus, seeing "Madagascar is closing its borders" during gameplay usually meant you (the plague designer, that is) were going to lose. Again. (And, yes, I'm recycling this gag from November 11.)
