More bad news all around. Deaths are up again, cases are up again, and hospitalizations are up again. Today's 5,472 newly reported cases are still below the January 16 report of 5,657; however, the 1,239 patients in hospital are the highest that number has been reported since February 11. All four seven-day averages are up or steady, with the percent-positive average at 5.01%.

The weekly city/town data isn't particularly cheerful, either. Granted, the state has long since given up on its risk color codes; if they were still reporting them, though, we'd be up to 194 communities in the highest-risk category (up from 155 just last week, and up from zero back, say, six months ago).

While the hospitalizations continue to climb in Massachusetts, things are so bad in Maine and New Hampshire that both state's Governors are calling out the National Guard:

No mask mandates or other non-pharmaceutical interventions in sight, however.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 58 active and 1,418 cumulative cases as of December 8. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 1PM on November 22, 2021 reported 1304 cumulative cases with 54 individuals in isolation, 1218 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
