Day-over-day deaths are down, but both cases and hospitalizations are up; today's 1,796 newly reported cases are the highest single-day number since the 1,962 cases reported on April 16, while the 620 patients hospitalized is the highest that number has been reported since 625 patients were reported on April 26. Drops in the seven-day averages for cases and percent-positive are at least somewhat encouraging, but the seven-day average for hospitalizations keeps ticking upward. The good folks at Covid Act Now currently show Massachusetts as a high-risk state; that's actually good compared to the rest of the USA, with most states at a very-high risk level and nine states in the severe risk category (courtesy of incidence rates over 75 daily new cases per 100k population). The CDC's county-level view shows Middlesex County, like most of the nation, in the high community transmission category.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 14 active and 1,060 cumulative cases as of August 31. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
