Seventeen inches of heavy wet snow on the hood of my car this morning; National Weather Service spotters in the immediate area were reporting as much as 21.8 inches.

The NWS tweeted out an observed snowfall map showing the high amounts around me - as well as the very sharp gradient running roughly along I-95 / MA-128, especially south of Boston. (No snow on Cape Cod, only a few inches in Boston proper.)

Said car is finally dug out. Me, I'm just tired out.

Another day of mixed blessings on the day-to-day front; deaths are up but cases are down. Percent-positive is also down, however, which is the one that gives me warmer fuzzies about the future. Also nice to see the overall hospitalization counts drop again, although a slight uptick in the folks-on-ventilators count is unhappy-making.

We had a big snowstorm yesterday afternoon and evening, especially north and west of Boston proper; I suspect that may have impacted new case reporting, as today's the first time since November 30 of last year that the state reported less than two thousand new confirmed cases (and that day was a Monday). The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 47 active and 685 cumulative cases as of January 31, and apparently has not been updated since. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 1:30PM on January 25, 2021 reported 655 cumulative cases with 49 individuals in isolation, 575 persons recovered and 31 fatalities.
