As noted yesterday, today's numbers include almost 24,800 lab results that should have been part of the Friday numbers, but didn't make it into that day's report due to a technical issue. Thus, the big jump in newly reported cases isn't as concerning as it otherwise might be. Seeing the reported seven day average positivity rate drop below four percent for the first time since November 30, 2020 (when the state reported a 3.93% rate) is really encouraging. Mind, we've still got way too many new cases every day, and the vaccination rollout continues to be a hot mess, but the trends are looking a lot better than a few weeks ago.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 52 active and 676 cumulative cases as of January 28, and apparently has not been updated since. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 1:30PM on January 25, 2021 reported 655 cumulative cases with 49 individuals in isolation, 575 persons recovered and 31 fatalities.
