A nasty microburst knocked out power to myself (and most of my town) yesterday afternoon around 2:30. Irritatingly, the storm also apparently knocked out cellular data service, while leaving cellular voice service intact (at least for me); I actually had to call Eversource's 800 number to report the outage, like it was still the twentieth century.
I got power back about three hours later. Hot, dark, and jonesing for data wasn't particulary fun.
The town has an update posted on its website; as of 9:15AM, there are still over two thousand Eversource customers in the dark:
That's still nearly twenty percent of the town in the dark, with detours still up in the center of town. On the other hand, there haven't been any reported injuries in town, which definitely qualifies as good news.

Update on Storm Damage as of 9:15 am on 9/9/23
Acton was impacted by a storm on Friday September 8, 2023.
As of this morning at 9:15AM on 9/9/23 there are still over 2,000 Eversource customers without power in Acton. A portion Main Street remains detoured in front of the Woman’s Club building located at 502 Main Street. Other roads including Concord Road continue to be partially obstructed in several areas. Drivers please use caution and keep a safe distance from staff and contractors that are out there working to cleanup and restore our roadways and powerlines.
The Acton Memorial Library is running on backup generator and services will be limited today. Please watch the Acton Memorial website and social media for updates. West Acton Citizens' Library is open from 9am to 1pm. The transfer station is without power so services will be limited today. Sticker sales will not be available today.
We do not have estimates for power restoration at this point. Eversource has approximately 40 crews in town this morning. Our DPW crews are out this morning clearing debris from roadways.

Date: 2023-09-10 12:48 am (UTC)The Friday 9PM update reported over 5,100 customers without power, which was roughly half the town. About a thousand customers who had lost power earlier in the day had it back (that number presumably includes me).
