Oct. 29th, 2021 08:21 pmAs of 5PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 12 newly reported confirmed deaths (same as yesterday) for a total of 18,601 deaths, 1,245 newly reported confirmed cases (187 less than yesterday - down 13.1%) for a total of 794,382 cases, and 90,034 newly reported molecular tests (11,447 less than yesterday - down 11.3%).The seven day average positivity rate is 1.73%, compared to 1.69% yesterday. The state also reported zero newly reported probable deaths (3 less than yesterday) for a total of 395 and 146 newly reported probable cases (6 less than yesterday - down 3.9%) for a total of 57,540. Combining the confirmed and probable numbers gives 12 new deaths for a total of 18,996 and 1,391 new cases for a total of 851,922. There were 530 COVID-19 patients in hospital (2 more than yesterday - up 0.4%), 140 COVID-19 patients in ICUs (same as yesterday) and 72 COVID-19 patients on ventilators (intubated) (3 less than yesterday - down 4.0%).
Of the four overview trends (formerly the Page 2 "key metrics"), the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 899.0 (4 less than yesterday - down 0.4%), 1,304% above the lowest observed value of 64.0 on 6/25/2021 and 86.0% below the highest observed value of 6,230.0 on 1/8/2021. The 7-day weighted average of positive molecular test rate is 1.73% (0 more than yesterday - up 2.2%), 460% above the lowest observed value of 0.3% on 6/25/2021 and 94% below the highest observed value of 27.7% on 4/15/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is 529.0 (same as yesterday), 522% above the lowest observed value of 85.0 on 7/9/2021 and 87% below the highest observed value of 3,874.0 on 4/27/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 deaths is 9.0 (1 less than yesterday - down 10.0%), 800% above the lowest observed value of 1.0 on 7/11/2021 and 95% below the highest observed value of 175.0 on 4/24/2020.
Statewide, hospitals reported 9,094 non-ICU beds, of which 7,977 (87.7%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 390 (4.3%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 727 (8.0%) remained available. Hospitals also reported 1,285 ICU beds, of which 921 (71.7%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 140 (10.9%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 224 (17.4%) remained available. By comparison, hospitals reported yesterday a total of 9,027 non-ICU beds, of which 7,965 (88.2%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 388 (4%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 674 (7.5%) remained available. Hospitals also reported yesterday a total of 1,274 ICU beds, of which 930 (73.0%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 140 (11.0%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 204 (16.0%) remained available.
Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 973.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 11.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 548.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 2.05%.

Day-to-day deaths steady, cases down a tad, hospitalizations up a tad, percent-positive up a tad. Overall, not horrific news, but not anything that qualifies as great, either. Still looking at high levels of community transmission as defined by the CDC (unsurprising, given our daily new case rate).
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 21 active and 1,194 cumulative cases as of October 28. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
