Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 1,333.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 10.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 660.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 2.30% (or 3.95% excluding higher education).

Today being Thursday, the state also included city/town specific information in the daily download. My town of Acton is listed as having 1,094 total cases, with a two-week case count of 33 cases, a daily incidence rate of 9.9 which is higher than last week, with a corresponding risk color code of green (if the state was still reporting color codes). Acton is also listed as having 62,163 total tests, with a two-week total test count of 2,532 and a two-week positive test count of 33, for a percent-positive rate of 1.30 which is higher than last week. The corresponding statewide figures are 756,363 total cases, with a two-week case count of 22,175 cases, a daily incidence rate of 22.7 which is lower than last week. Massachusetts is also listed as having 28,560,973 total tests, with a two-week total test count of 1,207,154 and a two-week positive test count of 25,206, for a percent-positive rate of 2.09 which is lower than last week.

As of July 1, 2021, the state is no longer reporting risk color codes. However, if it was, of the 351 cites and towns in the Commonwealth, 96 would be coded gray (compared to 91 last week), 38 would be coded green (compared to 23 last week), and 173 would be coded yellow (compared to 188 last week). The remaining 44 towns would be coded red (compared to 49 last week): Acushnet, Athol, Berkley, Blackstone, Brookfield, Carver, Charlton, Chicopee, Dalton, Dartmouth, Dighton, Fall River, Fitchburg, Freetown, Haverhill, Lawrence, Ludlow, Lunenburg, Methuen, Middleborough, Middleton, Millis, Monson, New Bedford, Orange, Rutland, Seekonk, Shirley, Southborough, Southbridge, Springfield, Sterling, Sturbridge, Sutton, Swansea, Taunton, Templeton, Tyngsborough, Ware, Wareham, West Boylston, Westminster, Westport, and Winchendon.

7 cities/towns would be newly coded red this week (Dalton, Millis, Shirley, Sterling, Swansea, West Boylston, and Winchendon) and 12 cities/towns would no longer be coded red this week (Fairhaven, Hadley, Holyoke, Lakeville, Leicester, Littleton, Mattapoisett, Millbury, Plainville, Somerset, Topsfield, and Warren).

Of the 10 towns nearby (including my own town), one is coded gray (Carlisle), 2 are coded green (Acton, and Sudbury), 7 are coded yellow (Boxborough, Chelmsford, Concord, Littleton, Maynard, Stow, and Westford), and none are coded red.

Of the 10 towns near my church, 2 are coded gray (Berlin, and Harvard), 3 are coded green (Acton, Bolton, and Sudbury), 5 are coded yellow (Boxborough, Hudson, Marlborough, Maynard, and Stow), and none are coded red.

The daily raw data file used to create this report is available here.

Day-to-day deaths and cases are up again; today's 27 newly reported confirmed deaths are the highest single-day total since April 3. Hospitalizations are thankfully down, and the seven-day averages for cases and percent-positive also both ticked downward today; the seven-day averages for deaths, on the other hand, is up again.

Weekly city and town numbers also came out today (it being Thursday), and those are a bit better; the number of communities in the highest-risk category (if the state still bothered to report those categories, which it doesn't) dropped from 49 last week to 44 this week.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 25 active and 1,136 cumulative cases as of September 29. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
