Deaths way up day-over-day, even given yesterday's numbers covering three days. The twenty-four newly reported deaths are the highest single-day amount since the 30 reported on April 3, 2021, and the highest reported any day since April 5 (with April 4 not having any report, for reasons never explained). The raw numbers of newly reported cases are down from yesterday, and even down compared to yesterday averaged over three days, so there's something. On the other hand, hospitalizations are up compared to yesterday; today's 716 patients are the first time since April 19 that that figure has exceeded seven hundred. In further bad news, the seven-day metrics for cases, hospitalizations and percent-positive are all up.
Not that Governor Charlie Baker gives a rat's ass.
