Jul. 13th, 2021 07:54 pmAs of 5PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting zero newly reported confirmed deaths (1 less than yesterday) for a total of 17,647 deaths, 191 newly reported confirmed cases (131 less than yesterday - down 40.7%) for a total of 665,088 cases, and 22,389 newly reported molecular tests (33,983 less than yesterday - down 60.3%). The seven day average positivity rate is 0.62%, compared to 0.55% yesterday. The state also reported zero newly reported probable deaths (same as yesterday) for a total of 365 and 93 newly reported probable cases (83 more than yesterday - up 830.0%) for a total of 46,358. Combining the confirmed and probable numbers gives 0 new deaths for a total of 18,012 and 284 new cases for a total of 711,446. There were 96 COVID-19 patients in hospital (5 less than yesterday - down 5.0%), 35 COVID-19 patients in ICUs (same as yesterday) and 13 COVID-19 patients on ventilators (intubated) (1 more than yesterday - up 8.3%).
Of the four overview trends (formerly the Page 2 "key metrics"), the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 110.0 (17 more than yesterday - up 18.3%), 71% above the lowest observed value of 64.0 on 6/25/2021 and 99.0% below the highest observed value of 6,235.0 on 1/8/2021. The 7-day weighted average of positive molecular test rate is 0.62% (0 more than yesterday - up 12.4%), 102% above the lowest observed value of 0.3% on 6/25/2021 and 98% below the highest observed value of 27.7% on 4/15/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is 90.0 (2 more than yesterday - up 2.3%), 5% above the lowest observed value of 85.0 on 7/9/2021 and 98% below the highest observed value of 3,874.0 on 4/27/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 deaths is 1.0 (same as yesterday), 0% above the lowest observed value of 1.0 on 7/8/2021 and 100% below the highest observed value of 175.0 on 4/24/2020.
Statewide, hospitals reported 8,922 non-ICU beds, of which 7,611 (85.3%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 61 (0.7%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,250 (14.0%) remained available. Hospitals also reported 1,339 ICU beds, of which 884 (66.0%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 35 (2.6%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 420 (31.4%) remained available. By comparison, hospitals reported yesterday a total of 8,879 non-ICU beds, of which 7,454 (84.0%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 66 (1%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,359 (15.3%) remained available. Hospitals also reported yesterday a total of 1,337 ICU beds, of which 868 (64.9%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 35 (2.6%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 434 (32.5%) remained available.
Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 55.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 2.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 98.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 0.33% (or 0.43% excluding higher education).

Any day with zero deaths is by definition a good day. And there were fewer cases reported today than yesterday - but yesterday covered three days of data. Nearly two hundred newly reported cases is Not Good At All. At least the total number of hospitalizations dropped slightly. However, three of the four seven-day averages are up again.
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing zero active and 981 cumulative cases as of July 12. There have been no new cases shown on this dashboard since June 2, over a month ago. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
