The state is continuing to warn readers that there will be no update on Monday, July 5:
Please note: the daily COVID-19 public health report will not be published on Monday, July 5th. The report published on Tuesday, July 6th will include data for Saturday, July 3rd through Tuesday, July 6th.
Meanwhile, I discovered another change to the raw data reporting; the higher-education-specific testing information, including positivity, are now only reported on a weekly basis. Changes to the loader (and the wall-o-text) had to be made.

As of 5PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 1 newly reported confirmed death (2 less than yesterday - down 66.7%) for a total of 17,634 deaths, 79 newly reported confirmed cases (3 more than yesterday - up 3.9%) for a total of 663,977 cases, and 26,521 newly reported molecular tests (3,863 less than yesterday - down 12.7%). The seven day average positivity rate is 0.38%, compared to 0.37% yesterday. The state also reported zero newly reported probable deaths (same as yesterday) for a total of 364 and 10 newly reported probable cases (3 more than yesterday - up 42.9%) for a total of 46,161. Combining the confirmed and probable numbers gives 1 new deaths for a total of 17,998 and 89 new cases for a total of 710,138. There were 98 COVID-19 patients in hospital (4 less than yesterday - down 3.9%), 28 COVID-19 patients in ICUs (1 less than yesterday - down 3.4%) and 10 COVID-19 patients on ventilators (intubated) (1 less than yesterday - down 9.1%).

Of the four overview trends (formerly the Page 2 "key metrics"), the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 59.0 (1 less than yesterday - down 1.7%), 0% above the lowest observed value of 59.0 on 7/1/2021 and 100.0% below the highest observed value of 6,236.0 on 1/8/2021. The 7-day weighted average of positive molecular test rate is 0.38% (0 more than yesterday - up 2.6%), 25% above the lowest observed value of 0.3% on 6/25/2021 and 99% below the highest observed value of 27.7% on 4/15/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is 100.0 (same as yesterday), 2% above the lowest observed value of 98.0 on 6/27/2021 and 98% below the highest observed value of 3,874.0 on 4/27/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 deaths is 1.0 (same as yesterday), 0% above the lowest observed value of 1.0 on 6/28/2021 and 100% below the highest observed value of 175.0 on 4/24/2020.

Statewide, hospitals reported 9,125 non-ICU beds, of which 8,017 (87.9%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 70 (0.8%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,038 (11.4%) remained available. Hospitals also reported 1,349 ICU beds, of which 951 (70.5%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 28 (2.1%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 370 (27.4%) remained available. By comparison, hospitals reported yesterday a total of 9,168 non-ICU beds, of which 8,027 (87.6%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 73 (1%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,068 (11.6%) remained available. Hospitals also reported yesterday a total of 1,347 ICU beds, of which 971 (72.1%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 29 (2.2%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 347 (25.8%) remained available.

Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 63.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 3.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 128.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 0.37% (or 0.50% excluding higher education).

The daily raw data file used to create this report is available here.

Anyhow, the day-to-day deaths and hospitalizations are down, but the cases are up. The seven-day averages are very much a mixed bag; those for cases and deaths are at the Lowest Observed Value. while that for hospitalizations held steady and that for percent-positive is up for the fourth day running. Yes, the absolute numbers remain very, very low indeed, but several days in a row of rising percent-positive? That's not good.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing zero active and 981 cumulative cases as of July 1. There have been no new cases shown on this dashboard since June 2. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
