The seven day average positivity rate is 3.30%, compared to 3.44% yesterday. Excluding higher education, the seven day average positivity rate is 5.14%, compared to 5.22% yesterday. The number of estimated active cases was 64,431 (3,219 less than yesterday - down 4.8%). The state also reported 3 newly reported probable deaths (3 more than yesterday) for a total of 293 and 269 newly reported probable cases (7 less than yesterday - down 2.5%) for a total of 26,553. Combining the confirmed and probable numbers gives 56 new deaths for a total of 14,708 and 2,455 new cases for a total of 531,117. The average age of hospitalized patients over the past week is 68 (2 less than last week - down 2.9%) while the average age of deaths over the last two weeks is 80 (same as last week). The fourteen-day average test turnaround time (from sample draw to DPH report) is 1.90 (compared to 1.92 last week). The average daily incidence per 100k population over the last 14 days is 48.9 (compared to 59.4 last week).
Of the four overview trends (formerly the Page 2 "key metrics"), the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 1,945.0 (236 less than yesterday - down 10.8%), 1,138% above the lowest observed value of 157.0 on 7/4/2020 and 69.0% below the highest observed value of 6,237.0 on 1/8/2021. The 7-day weighted average of positive molecular test rate is 3.30% (0 less than yesterday - down 3.8%), 329% above the lowest observed value of 0.8% on 9/21/2020 and 88% below the highest observed value of 27.7% on 4/15/2020. Statewide, hospitals reported 9,219 non-ICU beds, of which 6,467 (70.1%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 1,300 (14.1%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,452 (15.8%) remained available. Hospitals also reported 1,470 ICU beds, of which 821 (55.9%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 335 (22.8%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 314 (21.4%) remained available. By comparison, hospitals reported yesterday a total of 9,158 non-ICU beds, of which 6,160 (67.3%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 1,278 (14%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,720 (18.8%) remained available. Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 3,017.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 59.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 2,203.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 5.86% (or 7.26% excluding higher education).

Day-to-day changes aren't great, with both newly reported deaths and cases climbing and an uptick in the overall COVID-19 patient count. However, percent-positive continues to drop, as do the ICU and ventilator counts. (Overall ICU availabilty actually dropped, but that's due to a spike in non-COVID ICU patients.)
The longer-term trends are in the good direction, with the seven-day case average down below two thousand per day for the first time since November 8. (It hasn't been reported that low since December 3, but the state bases this average on when the test was adminstered rather than when the test was reported, which tends to depress the most recent values.) And the fourteen-day average daily incidence is down below fifty for the first time since December 2.
We are making progress. (But keep wearing those masks!)
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 30 active and 691 cumulative cases as of February 3. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 1:30PM on January 25, 2021 reported 655 cumulative cases with 49 individuals in isolation, 575 persons recovered and 31 fatalities.
