As of 5PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 90 newly reported confirmed deaths (16 more than yesterday - up 21.6%) for a total of 12,798 deaths, 7,110 newly reported confirmed cases (525 less than yesterday - down 6.9%) for a total of 407,933 cases, and 109,793 newly reported molecular tests (1,224 more than yesterday - up 1.1%). The seven day average positivity rate is 7.35%, compared to 7.49% yesterday. Excluding higher education, the seven day average positivity rate is 8.55%, compared to 8.71% yesterday. The number of estimated active cases was 88,845 (1,497 more than yesterday - up 1.7%). The state also reported zero newly reported probable deaths (2 less than yesterday) for a total of 276 and 304 newly reported probable cases (181 less than yesterday - down 37.3%) for a total of 19,202. Combining the confirmed and probable numbers gives 90 new deaths for a total of 13,074 and 7,414 new cases for a total of 427,135. There were 2,291 COVID-19 patients in hospital (20 less than yesterday - down 0.9%), 445 COVID-19 patients in ICUs (5 more than yesterday - up 1.1%) and 280 COVID-19 patients on ventilators (intubated) (same as yesterday).

Of the four overview trends (formerly the Page 2 "key metrics"), the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 4,672.0 (809 more than yesterday - up 20.9%), 2,875% above the lowest observed value of 157.0 on 7/4/2020 and 6.0% below the highest observed value of 4,926.0 on 1/4/2021. The 7-day weighted average of positive molecular test rate is 7.35% (0 less than yesterday - down 2.0%), 853% above the lowest observed value of 0.8% on 9/21/2020 and 73% below the highest observed value of 27.7% on 4/15/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is 2,343 (4 less than yesterday - down 0.2%), 1,411% above the lowest observed value of 155.0 on 8/26/2020 and 40% below the highest observed value of 3,874.0 on 4/27/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 deaths is 64.0 (1 more than yesterday - up 1.6%), 481% above the lowest observed value of 11.0 on 9/9/2020 and 64% below the highest observed value of 175.0 on 4/24/2020.

Statewide, hospitals reported 9,280 non-ICU beds, of which 6,265 (67.5%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 1,846 (19.9%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,169 (12.6%) remained available. Hospitals also reported 1,477 ICU beds, of which 724 (49.0%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 445 (30.1%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 308 (20.9%) remained available. By comparison, hospitals reported yesterday a total of 9,315 non-ICU beds, of which 6,372 (68.4%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 1,871 (20%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,072 (11.5%) remained available. Hospitals also reported yesterday a total of 1,478 ICU beds, of which 738 (49.9%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 440 (29.8%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 300 (20.3%) remained available.

Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 2,888.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 44.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 2,035.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 6.32% (or 7.35% excluding higher education).

Oh, joy. Three days in a row with over seven thousand newly reported confirmed cases. At least the positivity rate is trending down.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 52 active and 568 cumulative cases as of January 8. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 9PM on December 15 reported 433 cumulative cases with 63 individuals in isolation, 345 persons recovered and 25 fatalities.
