Of the Commonwealth's four "key metrics" listed on page 2 of the report, the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 1,715 (50 more than yesterday - up 3.0%), 992% above the lowest observed value of 157 on July 4 and 31% below the highest observed value of 2,473 on November 16. Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 1,148, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 17, the 7 day hospitalization average was 484, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 2.3% (or 3.90% excluding higher education).
Day-to-day changes are semi-encouraging. Deaths are down, as are the total number of patients in hospital with COVID-19 and the test positivity rates. However, newly reported cases are way up, to the highest level reported since April 24. The ICU and ventilator populations are also up, and the estimated active cases count is still climbing inexorably.
