Local COVID-19 updates
May. 19th, 2020 07:37 pmAs of 4PM this afternoon, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 76 more deaths from COVID-19 (for a total of 5,938 to date), 873 new cases (for a total of 87,925) and 7,741 more tests reported (for a total of 476,940). The ratio of new cases to new test results is 11.3%.
Of the four items listed in the "Dashboard of Public Health Indicators" on page 2, the seven-day weighted average positive test rate is reported to be 9.9%, the three-day average of number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is 2,534, the number of hospitals using surge capacity is 13, and the three-day average of COVID-19 deaths is 82. All these items are down substantially since April 15.
I do wish someone would explain why a mix of three-day and seven-day averages are being shown.
The town of Acton has yet to post an update today; yesterday, the town reported 151 cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Acton with 68 individuals in isolation, 65 recovered and 18 fatalities.
