Local COVID-19 updates
Apr. 7th, 2020 09:43 pmAs of 4PM this afternoon, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting ninety-six more deaths from COVID-19 (for a total of 356 to date), 1365 new cases (for a total of 15202) and 4915 more persons tested (for a total of 81344). That new-deaths number is a big jump, but the state included the following note in the daily report:
The town of Acton's daily updates now apparently come out at 9:30 PM. Yesterday the town reported 17 confirmed cases; today's count is up to 22 confirmed cases. Meanwhile, the Board of Health has ordered the closure of NARA Park because people refuse to stop congregating there.
Scary numbers (even though they're far better than the reports out of New York and New Jersey).
Please note that today’s reported deaths reflect deaths occurring over the weekend and the past 24 hours. DPH receives reports of deaths from more than one source that are then matched to laboratory confirmed cases and reported out as quickly as possible.(emphasis in original)
