Yikes. Deaths are down compared to Friday, which is always good to see; however, today's 8,625 newly reported confirmed cases are the highest three-day total since January 31. Hospitalizations, at 604, broke six hundred for the first time since February 21. Three of the four seven-day averages are also up, with percent-positive up to 6.77%.

Now that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have put Middlesex County in the "High" community level, at least three Middlesex County school systems are now "recommending" that their students resume mask wearing indoors at school:

Unfortunately, mandating mask wearing still seems to be politically radioactive. And there's no sign of this new surge slowing down at any point in the near future.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 36 active and 3,159 cumulative cases as of May 8; the active case count peaked at 59 on May 6. In the most recent "newsflash style update" at 7PM on December 21, 2021, the town reported 1538 cumulative cases with 89 individuals in isolation, 1417 recovered and 32 fatalities.
