Local COVID-19 updates
Mar. 8th, 2022 05:30 pm( Wall-o-text, covering 3 days of death data )
Raw death counts (61) are up compared to yesterday, but Tuesday death reports cover three days; today's report averaged over those three days is only 20.3, which is actually down compared to Friday's report. Raw case counts (607) are down compared to yesterday, but Monday case counts cover three days; today's reported count is higher than yesterday's count averaged over those three days. (Of course, both the deaths and cases counts are based on when something was reported to the state, and there are apparently quite a few agencies/organizations that don't do a great job of sending in weekend updates.) Hospitalizations, on the other hand, are a definite improvement; today's report of 291 marks the first time we're below 300 patients hospitalized with COVID statewide for the first time since the state reported 271 on August 6, 2021. The news on the seven-day averages is also mixed, with the averages for deaths, cases and hospitalizations all down compared to yesterday's figures, but that for percent-positive up slightly.
More free COVID-19 at-home tests are now available from the Federal Government, and those who already got one set of four can get another one:
