Local COVID-19 updates
Jan. 12th, 2022 06:00 pm( Wall-o-text )
Ick. Granted, deaths are down compared to yesterday's report, but that report covered three days of death reporting; today's 75 newly reported confirmed deaths are nearly double the 38.7 average per day of yesterday's period, and is the highest single-day count reported since 87 deaths were reported on February 12, 2021. Cases are up again, although (thankfully) not nearly as high as earlier this month. Hospitalizations are up again as well; today's census of 3,087 is the first time over the three thousand mark since May 5, 2020. The seven-day averages are also mixed, with cases and percent-positive both down but hospitalizations and deaths both up.
Too early to declare that the omicron variant has peaked around these parts, alas. (But the drop in the seven-day case average is encouraging.)
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 159 active and 2,179 cumulative cases as of January 11. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 7PM on December 21, 2021, the town reported 1538 cumulative cases with 89 individuals in isolation, 1417 recovered and 32 fatalities.
