Big jump in deaths day-over-day - today's thirteen confirmed deaths are the highest since May 19, when fourteen deaths were reported. Fewer cases were reported today, but AsYouKnowBob, yesterday's report covered three days, and today's count was quite a bit higher than dividing yesterday's number by three. Hospitalizations are also up again, as are the seven-day averages for deaths, hospitalizations and percent-positive.

The state has started adding information on cases in fully vaccinated individuals to its Daily COVID-19 Vaccine Report - but only on Tuesdays, and only as a PDF file (the underlying data is, as far as I can tell, not being published anywhere). Based on today's report, last week (August 1-7) saw 2,232 new cases among fully vaccinated individuals, 50 hospitalizations and 6 deaths. According to today's raw data file, there were 6,629 new cases, 79 net new hospitalizations and 19 new deaths over that same time frame. This would imply that last week, fully vaccinated individuals made up 33.7% of the new cases, 63.3% of the new hospitalizations, and 31.6% of the new deaths.

The fact that sixty-four percent of the population are fully vaccinated and they're less than thirty-five percent of the cases is a pretty good indication that the vaccines are (a) effective and (b) not perfect. Masking up is still a necessity, even if Governor Charlie Baker can't be arsed to make it mandatory.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 9 active and 1,011 cumulative cases as of August 9. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
