And the beat goes on. Deaths are up day-over-day, cases are up day-over-day, hospitalizations are up day-over-day, all four seven-day averages are up day-over-day. Today's 742 newly reported confirmed cases are the highest single-day count since May 8, when the state reported 795 such cases.

The city and town data is also trending in a bad direction; if the state was still reporting its risk color codes, five new communities would have jumped into the yellow category and three more into the red. Just a couple of weeks ago, not a single community was higher than green. The only good news is that hospitalizations aren't climbing nearly as quickly as are case counts; presumably that means the vaccines are working as desired.

But there's no sign at all yet that Governor Charlie Baker is going to do anything. Other than look concerned, perhaps.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 8 active and 998 cumulative cases as of July 28. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
