Local (and not-so-local) COVID-19 updates

Deaths down day-to-day; cases up, but so are tests. Estimated active cases continue their downward trend and are now below four thousand for the first time; hospitalization counts also dropped today compared to yesterday. The seven-day deaths, cases and percent-positive averages are all at their Lowest Observed Values; the hospitalization average is still a bit above its LOV but is continuing to drop.
We're not completely out of the woods yet, though. The Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is spreading in the United Kingdom, and the US needs to step up its vaccination game:

The variant in question used to be referred to publically by its Pango lineage B.1.617.2. It was first spotted in India. The World Health Organization is now referring to this variant as Delta, as part of their effort to provide "easy-to-pronounce and non-stigmatising labels" for SARS-CoV-2 variants. Regardless of how it's named, it's apparently a nasty one, and folks who haven't gotten both shots of a two-dose vaccine are very susceptible.
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 3 active and 981 cumulative cases as of June 7. (There have been no new cases shown on this dashboard since June 2.) The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
