Local COVID-19 updates
May. 4th, 2020 08:50 pmAs of 4PM this afternoon, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 86 more deaths from COVID-19 (for a total of 4,090 to date), 1,000 new cases (for a total of 69,087) and 9,622 more tests performed (for a total of 324,268).
That's the first time since April 13 that the Commonwealth has reported a daily death count under one hundred. That qualifies as good news, as does the fact that the hospitalization rates and percentage of positive tests are both trending in the right direction. It's not a huge amount of good news, especially as Massachusetts now has the third highest number of cases in the country (behind only New York and New Jersey); but it's a bit of good news, and I'll take it.
The town of Acton has yet to post an update today. Yesterday's report listed 97 confirmed cases in town, 54 of those being "cases in isolation that are actively being monitored".
