The seven day average positivity rate is 0.36%, compared to 0.33% yesterday. Excluding higher education, the seven day average positivity rate is 0.49%, compared to 0.43% yesterday. The number of estimated active cases was 1,348 (13 less than yesterday - down 1.0%). The state also reported zero newly reported probable deaths (same as yesterday) for a total of 364 and zero newly reported probable cases (same as yesterday) for a total of 46,144. Day-to-day newly reported deaths steady (at one), but newly reported cases up for the third day in a row, which is not good. Estimated active cases are down again, setting a new record low. However, total hospitalizations are up again. Even more worrisome, the seven-day averages for percent-positive and hospitalizations are both up; granted, they're not up by a lot from their Lowest Observed Values, but they are up, and that's pretty much by definition not good. The Wednesday weekly data points are a bit more encouraging, as the test turnaround time improved a tad and the seven-day average daily incidence improved to 1.0 per 100k.
The state's absolute numbers are still very, very low, both compared to the rest of the US and compared to just a few months ago. However, there are still millions of folks in the Commomwealth who haven't gotten even one shot yet; today's state vaccination dashboard is showing 4.2 million people having had both shots (or the one shot for J&&J) and around 480k others only having had their first of two shots. That makes roughly 4.7 million people (68% of the state's population) having had at least one dose - or 32% of the population with no protection at all, including in particular every kid under the age of twelve who's not enrolled in a clinical trial. Those trends definitely bear watching.
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing zero active and 981 cumulative cases as of June 29. There have been no new cases shown on this dashboard since June 2. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
