As of 5PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 20 newly reported confirmed deaths (2 more than yesterday - up 11.1%) for a total of 16,123 deaths, 1,006 newly reported confirmed cases (114 more than yesterday - up 12.8%) for a total of 560,981 cases, and 59,078 newly reported molecular tests (18,016 more than yesterday - up 43.9%). The seven day average positivity rate is 1.74%, compared to 1.67% yesterday. Excluding higher education, the seven day average positivity rate is 2.97%, compared to 2.82% yesterday. The number of estimated active cases was 26,636 (733 less than yesterday - down 2.7%). The state also reported 1 newly reported probable death (1 more than yesterday) for a total of 333 and 257 newly reported probable cases (161 more than yesterday - up 167.7%) for a total of 32,626. Combining the confirmed and probable numbers gives 21 new deaths for a total of 16,456 and 1,263 new cases for a total of 593,607. There were 704 COVID-19 patients in hospital (32 more than yesterday - up 4.8%), 185 COVID-19 patients in ICUs (5 more than yesterday - up 2.8%) and 117 COVID-19 patients on ventilators (intubated) (6 less than yesterday - down 4.9%).

Of the four overview trends (formerly the Page 2 "key metrics"), the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 1,006.0 (112 less than yesterday - down 10.0%), 540% above the lowest observed value of 157.0 on 7/4/2020 and 84.0% below the highest observed value of 6,242.0 on 1/8/2021. The 7-day weighted average of positive molecular test rate is 1.74% (0 more than yesterday - up 4.2%), 126% above the lowest observed value of 0.8% on 9/21/2020 and 94% below the highest observed value of 27.7% on 4/15/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is 714.0 (11 less than yesterday - down 1.5%), 360% above the lowest observed value of 155.0 on 8/26/2020 and 82% below the highest observed value of 3,874.0 on 4/27/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 deaths is 30.0 (2 less than yesterday - down 6.2%), 172% above the lowest observed value of 11.0 on 9/9/2020 and 83% below the highest observed value of 175.0 on 4/24/2020.

Statewide, hospitals reported 9,090 non-ICU beds, of which 6,762 (74.4%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 519 (5.7%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,809 (19.9%) remained available. Hospitals also reported 1,424 ICU beds, of which 847 (59.5%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 185 (13.0%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 392 (27.5%) remained available. By comparison, hospitals reported yesterday a total of 9,023 non-ICU beds, of which 6,718 (74.5%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 492 (5%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,813 (20.1%) remained available. Hospitals also reported yesterday a total of 1,424 ICU beds, of which 853 (59.9%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 180 (12.6%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 391 (27.5%) remained available.

Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 1,182.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 36.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 983.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 1.89% (or 3.11% excluding higher education).

Well, that ain't great. Day-to-day deaths and cases are both up, as is the seven-day average positivity rate and the numbers of COVID-19 patients in hospital and in the ICU. The seven-day averages for cases and hospitalizations are both down, and all the seven-day averages are below where they were two weeks ago, so there's that.

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 17 active and 790 cumulative cases as of March 8. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 5PM on February 26, 2021 reported 766 cumulative cases with 27 individuals in isolation, 707 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
