Local COVID-19 updates

Not really great news. Confirmed deaths up from last week, but newly confirmed cases are (slightly) down for the third week in a row. (On the other hand, so is testing.) Hospitalizations are up again; in fact, today's report of 758 COVID-19 patients in hospital is the highest since the May 27 report of 795. There is a bit of good news for Berkshire County, at least: their CDC Community Level dropped from High last week to Low this week, courtesy of drops in both case count and new hospital admissions count. Not that anyone gave a good goddamn, as near as I can tell from the complete lack of news coverage.
I've been bitching about how Governor Charlie Baker has been merrily doing nothing about COVID for months now. Apparently, neither of the major party candidates to replace him have a plan for COVID either:

Hopefully this winter won't have a massive surge in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. I just really wish I felt like that was likely.
