Yuck. Deaths, cases and hospitalizations all up again compared to yesterday; in fact, today was the first single-day report with over nine hundred new cases since May 6. Seven-day averages for cases, hospitalizations and percent-positive also all up. And now Massachusetts is up to twelve of fourteen counties with "substantial" or "high" levels of community transmission, per today's CDC county data. Joy.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker continues to be allergic to mask mandates, but today his adminstration did order nursing home staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID by October 10:

Yes, it would be great if everyone would get vaccinated because they wanted to. Some folks, though, are going to need more than a bit of a nudge to get the proverbial Round Tuit, and I'm glad Baker is finally willing to do something (even if it's only for nursing home staff).

The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 7 active and 1,005 cumulative cases as of August 3. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 11:45AM on May 28, 2021 reported 978 cumulative cases with 3 individuals in isolation, 943 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
