Local COVID-19 updates

Day-to-day changes aren't very good; cases and deaths up while tests are down. (And, yes, we're back above two thousand cases per day. Sigh.) Hopefully that's a blip; we did see another drop in overall COVID hospitalizations, which is good, and the seven-day averages continue to be well below where they were a couple of weeks ago. Even better, a lot of cities and towns dropped out of the red-coded "high risk" category; the net count is now "only" 153. Still way too many, but that is a big improvement, and the trend is continuing.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, given these trends, that Governor Baker is relaxing some of the post-Christmas capacity restrictions effective Monday:

On the one hand, I really can't blame him for wanting to boost the economy by easing some of the public health limitations. On the other hand, though, I can't help but think it's too early - especially, as several experts in the Globe article note, when there's a significant risk of Super Bowl parties kicking off a mini- (or not so mini-) surge in cases.
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 30 active and 691 cumulative cases as of February 3. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 1:30PM on January 25, 2021 reported 655 cumulative cases with 49 individuals in isolation, 575 persons recovered and 31 fatalities.
