As of 4PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 35 newly reported confirmed COVID-19 deaths (for a total of 7,895 confirmed deaths), 89 newly reported confirmed cases (for a total of 103,628) and 6,481 new patients tested by molecular tests (for a total of 837,147), with a total of 1,057,932 molecular tests administered to date. The ratio of newly confirmed cases to individuals tested by molecular test is 1.4%. The state also reported no newly reported probable deaths (with the total remaining at 200), 12 newly reported probable cases (for a total of 5,140), and 292 patients tested by antibody tests (for a total of 70,768). In total, the state reported 35 new deaths (for a total of 8,095) and 101 new cases (for a total of 108,768).

Yet another mixed bag: new cases and percent of positive tests both down, which are both good; number of tests down and number of deaths up, which are both bad. Maybe I should start ignoring the day-by-day numbers and just focus about longer term trends? Nah.

The good folks at Stat think it inevitable that the nation's COVID-19 response (specifically, the lack thereof) will spawn an independent evaluation along the lines of the 9/11 commission, and have an interesting piece out on what it might well look into:

I'm personally convinced that a Biden Administration would probably launch such an investigation, but there's no chance in Hell that any Republican administration would dare.

The town of Acton did post an update last night; as of 9:30PM on Sunday 6/28, the town reported 173 cumulative cases with 0 individuals in isolation, 152 persons recovered and 21 fatalities. No active cases in town is very good news, especially since there are multiple nursing homes and senior-living centers; may it continue to be so.
