Local COVID-19 updates
Jun. 8th, 2020 10:10 pmAs of 4PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 38 reported confirmed COVID-19 deaths (for a total of 7,217 confirmed deaths), 193 newly reported confirmed cases (for a total of 99,755) and 4,782 new patients tested by molecular tests (for a total of 653,398). The ratio of newly confirmed cases to molecular test results is 4.0%. The state reported zero probable deaths (and the total dropped again by one, for a total of 136), zero newly reported probable cases (with the total dropping by three to 3,873), and 258 patients tested by antibody tests (for a total of 51,404). In total, the state reported 38 new deaths (for a total of 7,353) and 193 new cases (for a total of 103,626).
Confirmed deaths went up, as did the percentage of tests coming back positive, while the number of tests was down substantially; none of these qualify as good news to me, although reading too much of anything into one day's numbers is probably a mistake, and all four longer-term indicators on the state report trended downward today.
As of 9:30PM this evening, the town of Acton is reporting 171 cumulative cases with 30 individuals in isolation, 120 persons recovered and 21 fatalities. Three people getting better and no new cases certainly qualifies as good news.
