Local COVID-19 updates
May. 30th, 2020 09:16 pmAs of 4PM this afternoon, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 50 more deaths from COVID-19 (for a total of 6,768 to date), 789 new cases (for a total of 96,301) and 10,774 more tests reported (for a total of 582,519). The ratio of new cases to new test results is 7.3%.
Another day with a mixed bag of headline numbers; daily deaths are down, which is good, but daily cases and the percentage of positive tests are both up, with is bad. Three of the four "Dashboard of Public Health Indicators" numbers were down today, but the three-day average death rate is up, which is bad. The "six key public health indicators" on the report's front page continue unchanged from the original status report on May 18, despite the claim that "status will be updated weekly or as metrics indicate". (Presumably, that implies nothing has changed, which at least implies nothing has gotten substantially worse.)
The Boston Globe's report on today's numbers mostly focused on how "daily life in Massachusetts was beginning to revive a bit" (with emphasis on church reopenings).
Nothing new from the town of Acton since the May 28 update, which reported 167 cumulative cases, 45 persons currently in isolation, 101 persons recovered from the virus, and 21 deaths.
