Local COVID-19 updates
May. 20th, 2020 06:08 pmAs of 4PM this afternoon, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 128 more deaths from COVID-19 (for a total of 6,066 to date), 1,045 new cases (for a total of 88,970) and 13,013 more tests reported (for a total of 489,953). The ratio of new cases to new test results is 8.0%.
The daily death and case counts were both up from yesterday. Not what I want to see, even if the three-day and seven-day averages in the "Dashboard of Public Health Indicators" on page 2 continue to show downward trends.
Also coming out today was the state's weekly town-by-town report of cases and case rates; according to that report, Acton had 138 cases, with a rate of 581.49 cases/100k residents; up from 120 cases and 505.64 cases/100k residents last week. The 88,970 cases reported statewide correspond to a rate of 1277.06 cases/100k residents.
The town of Acton has yet to post an update today; yesterday at 10PM, the town reported 156 cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Acton with 60 individuals in isolation, 77 recovered and 19 fatalities. (I have no idea why the state's weekly report for Acton is so much lower than the town's daily report.) In other town news, Town Meeting has been officially rescheduled for June 29. How they'll manage to pull that off will be ... interesting. (Acton has an open Town Meeting format, where literally any town resident can show up and vote.)
