Local (and not-so-local) COVID-19 updates
Apr. 28th, 2020 07:56 pmAs of 4PM this afternoon, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 150 more deaths from COVID-19 (for a total of 3,153 to date), 1,840 new cases (for a total of 58,302) and 9,613 more tests performed (for a total of 254,500).
To nobody's surprise, Governor Baker today extended his orders closing non-essential business locations, banning groups of ten or more, and "advising" that people stay at home. These directives are now effective through at least May 18. Looks like it's going to be while yet before I get to go into the office ...
The particularly unhappy national level news? Today, the United States passed one million confirmed cases of COVID-19 (nearly one out of every three cases worldwide). New Zealand and Australia, meanwhile, appear to have gotten their outbreaks under control. (Some good news!)
The town of Acton has not posted an update so far today. Yesterday's update reported a total of 67 confirmed cases (up from 66 the day before), with "27 cases in isolation that are actively being monitored."
