Mar. 31st, 2020 09:37 pmAs of 4PM this afternoon, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting thirty-three more deaths from COVID-19 (for a total of 89 to date), 868 new cases (for a total of 6620) and 4142 more persons tested (for a total of 46935). That is far and away the biggest one-day statewide death total of the entire pandemic to date, and dashes what faint hopes I had that Massachusetts, at least, might just be starting to stabilize.
Governor Baker extended last week's order closing bricks-and-mortar locations of non-essential businesses; those locations must now remain closed through at least May 4. Gatherings of more than ten people are also banned through that date. (He already ordered schools closed at least through then.)
The town of Acton's latest update, released at nine PM tonight, states that there are now four cases of COVID-19 in town (up from one as of the March 28 update).
