Navigating in or out of Pearl Harbor isn't exceptionally tricky, as long as you pay attention. According to this story in the Honolulu Advertiser (http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/20090208/NEWS08/902080355/-1), though, they were in the middle of transferring personnel onto small boats when they ran aground. Makes me wonder how much attention the skipper was paying to the small-boat evolution rather than to his navigation.
