Those crazy Aussies sure do love their beer:

A Northern Territory driver has been fined by police after he strapped a seatbelt around a carton of beer but left a five-year-old child to sit on the floor of his car.

Four adults occupied the car with two in the front and two in the rear seats.

The carton of beer was buckled safely in the rear centre seat between two of the adults, while the five-year-old boy crouched on the floor.

The total fine was A$750, but the story doesn't say how much of that fine was for the car being unregistered and uninsured and how much was for the car being driven by a nitwit.

What did they have in the trunk/boot of the car? Inquiring minds (or idle ones) speculate...

And, speaking as a retired parent here, there are certain times when you just _know_ that a case of beer is more important than a five-year-old.
