Local COVID-19 updates
The state's interactive dashboard is showing the same "technical issue" notice it was displaying on Friday:
As of 5PM today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 6 newly reported confirmed deaths (2 less than yesterday - down 25.0%) for a total of 17,330 deaths, 655 newly reported confirmed cases (140 less than yesterday - down 17.6%) for a total of 653,190 cases, and 55,747 newly reported molecular tests (22,779 less than yesterday - down 29.0%). The seven day average positivity rate is 1.24%, compared to 1.32% yesterday. Excluding higher education, the seven day average positivity rate is 2.11%, compared to 2.23% yesterday. The number of estimated active cases was 18,746 (379 less than yesterday - down 2.0%). The state also reported zero newly reported probable deaths (same as yesterday) for a total of 352 and 203 newly reported probable cases (120 more than yesterday - up 144.6%) for a total of 44,208. Combining the confirmed and probable numbers gives 6 new deaths for a total of 17,682 and 858 new cases for a total of 697,398. There were 438 COVID-19 patients in hospital (3 less than yesterday - down 0.7%), 124 COVID-19 patients in ICUs (4 less than yesterday - down 3.1%) and 74 COVID-19 patients on ventilators (intubated) (8 more than yesterday - up 12.1%).
Of the four overview trends (formerly the Page 2 "key metrics"), the 7-day average of newly confirmed cases is 627.0 (10 more than yesterday - up 1.6%), 299% above the lowest observed value of 157.0 on 7/4/2020 and 90.0% below the highest observed value of 6,239.0 on 1/8/2021. The 7-day weighted average of positive molecular test rate is 1.24% (0 less than yesterday - down 6.1%), 61% above the lowest observed value of 0.8% on 9/21/2020 and 96% below the highest observed value of 27.7% on 4/15/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is 482.0 (13 less than yesterday - down 2.6%), 210% above the lowest observed value of 155.0 on 8/26/2020 and 88% below the highest observed value of 3,874.0 on 4/27/2020. The 7-day average number of COVID-19 deaths is 6.0 (same as yesterday), 0% above the lowest observed value of 6.0 on 5/7/2021 and 97% below the highest observed value of 175.0 on 4/24/2020.
Statewide, hospitals reported 9,184 non-ICU beds, of which 7,240 (78.8%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 314 (3.4%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,630 (17.7%) remained available. Hospitals also reported 1,381 ICU beds, of which 895 (64.8%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 124 (9.0%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 362 (26.2%) remained available. By comparison, hospitals reported yesterday a total of 9,207 non-ICU beds, of which 7,566 (82.2%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 313 (3%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 1,328 (14.4%) remained available. Hospitals also reported yesterday a total of 1,385 ICU beds, of which 911 (65.8%) were occupied by non-COVID patients, 128 (9.2%) were occupied by COVID patients, and 346 (25.0%) remained available.
Two weeks ago, the 7 day confirmed case average was 1,016.0, the 7 day confirmed deaths average was 9.0, the 7 day hospitalization average was 670.0, and the 7 day weighted average positivity rate was 1.74% (or 3.13% excluding higher education).
The daily raw data file used to create this report is available here.
Deaths, cases, estimated active cases, hospitalizations all down day-by-day, which is great; newly reported tests were also down day-by-day, though, which raises at least the chance that the cases drops are due to the infamous weekend reporting delays. The seven-day average for newly confirmed cases actually ticked up slightly, compared to yesterday; those for hospitalizations and percent-positive were both down. All four averages are below their values from two weeks ago.
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 14 active and 970 cumulative cases as of May 7, and has not been updated since. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 6PM on April 27, 2021 reported 951 cumulative cases with 13 individuals in isolation, 906 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
Please note: Due to a technical issue, the raw data file for the 5/6 daily dashboard was missing some data in the county_weekly tab. The data have been added to the raw file and the dashboard has been updated to include these data. Not sure if they found something else missing, or if someone just got too happy with cut-and-paste operations. Anyway, whatever the issues are, they don't affect anything I'm currently reading.
