Today being Thursday, the state also included city/town specific information in the daily download. My town of Acton is listed as having 927 total cases, with a two-week case count of 39 cases, a daily incidence rate of 11.7 which is lower than last week, and a risk color code of yellow. Acton is also listed as having 44,335 total tests, with a two-week total test count of 2,233 and a two-week positive test count of 40, for a percent-positive rate of 1.79 which is lower than last week. The corresponding statewide figures are 643,428 total cases, with a two-week case count of 19,466 cases, a daily incidence rate of 20.0 which is lower than last week, and a risk color code of gray. Massachusetts is also listed as having 21,170,658 total tests, with a two-week total test count of 1,138,293 and a two-week positive test count of 22,896, for a percent-positive rate of 2.01 which is lower than last week.
Of the 351 cites and towns in the Commonwealth, 116 are coded gray (compared to 107 last week), 36 are coded green (compared to 29 last week), and 173 are coded yellow (compared to 167 last week). The remaining 26 towns are coded red (compared to 48 last week): Acushnet, Berkley, Brockton, Chicopee, Dracut, Edgartown, Fall River, Hampden, Haverhill, Lawrence, Littleton, Lowell, Lynn, Methuen, Nantucket, New Bedford, Palmer, Revere, Southbridge, Southwick, Springfield, Taunton, Tisbury, Wareham, Winchendon, and Yarmouth.
3 cities/towns are newly coded red this week (Acushnet, Littleton, and Southbridge) and 25 cities/towns are no longer coded red this week (Adams, Ayer, Bellingham, Brewster, Carver, Dennis, Freetown, Harwich, Holyoke, Ludlow, Oak Bluffs, Peabody, Plainville, Plymouth, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Sterling, Sutton, Swansea, Templeton, Townsend, Upton, West Boylston, West Bridgewater, and Westport).
Of the 10 towns near my church, 4 are coded gray (Berlin, Bolton, Boxborough, and Harvard), 3 are coded green (Maynard, Stow, and Sudbury), 3 are coded yellow (Acton, Hudson, and Marlborough), and none are coded red.
The daily raw data file used to create this report is available here.
Day-to-day, an unhappy uptick in deaths, but drops in cases, hospitalizations and estimated active cases, along with drops or holding steady in the seven-day averages; overall, reasonably good news. The seven-day averages for cases, hospitalizations and percent-positive are also all below their levels two weeks ago; unfortunately, they're all still well above last summer's lows.
As for the weekly city/town numbers, my town of Acton is improving but still in the yellow moderate-risk category. The number of communities in the high-risk category dropped again; we're down to 26. The statewide numbers also improved, but the fourteen-day incidence rate is still way too high (at 20.0 per 100k).
The town of Acton's current Google Data Studio dashboard is showing 19 active and 959 cumulative cases as of April 29. The most recent "newsflash style update" at 6PM on April 27, 2021 reported 951 cumulative cases with 13 individuals in isolation, 906 persons recovered and 32 fatalities.
